Loved book 1， this sequel was so disappointing。 It was so complicated and not nearly satisfying enough。 Hopefully theres a third book to tie up the loose ends because there really are too many loose ends。 Feels way too dark to be a middle age novel， I was terrified for those kids being on their own for as long as they were。 The characters didn’t have time to develop because there was so much going on。 Tl;dr It just really wasn’t satisfying， there’s way too many loose ends， and the characters did Loved book 1， this sequel was so disappointing。 It was so complicated and not nearly satisfying enough。 Hopefully theres a third book to tie up the loose ends because there really are too many loose ends。 Feels way too dark to be a middle age novel， I was terrified for those kids being on their own for as long as they were。 The characters didn’t have time to develop because there was so much going on。 Tl;dr It just really wasn’t satisfying， there’s way too many loose ends， and the characters didn’t develop。I wouldn’t recommend this book to a friend， hopefully theres a next book that makes the series worth recommending 。。。more

Solid sequel book。 Filled in holes， had heart， lots of twists and surprises， lots of set up for sequels。 Great character and setting。 Heart and accuracy for children who come from foster care。 Would make a good Netflix series。

4。4| Well， that was…absolutely fantastic and I’m kind of upset I didn’t read this sooner。 First off， what is it with grumpy old men that feel the need to protect the main characters that make me just absolutely love the book？ Anyway， that was an amazing book and I wish I hadn’t read this at midnight so I could comprehend it better。 Man， I really need to start reading more middle grade because this was just amazing。

I really liked this book。 It picked up where the last one left off。 Ally Carter has such a great way of writing found family， while incorporating long last family and at the same time providing action and adventure。
